"Betrayal" after thought

After reading the story several times, it occured to me that there is a deeper meaning to this stories.

I translated the tittle as "betrayal" because the veteran certainly betrayed his dog. he disabled his dog and left it die helplessly. This reminded me how the veterans are treated in taiwan; them too, were betrayed, by the government that took them from their families to a strange place. Without any skills or educations, they were pretty much disabled. their feet were not chopped off, they were not bleeding to death; but they were certainly left to die of old age.

Taiwan, what a ugly place.
