Dear Thomas, Your e-mail has been referred to this Section for reply. Thank you very much for your suggestion about 'the foundation of private, but government supported animal shelters.' Euthanatia for dogs and cats is the key different view between the private sectors and governments. COA has coorperated with HSUS(The Humaine Society of the United States) for 6 years and their specialists cannot stand the shelters' dogs having deseases or badly wounded. They said these dogs should be give Euthanatia as soon as possible in order to end dogs' suffering. But the private sectors in Taiwan cannot usually accept such viewpoint. So, the condition of many private aimal shelters are worser than the public and the animal protection organizations always treat government officails as murderers of animals. I would like to know your people's common oppinion about euthanatia for dogs and cats through this ltter. Thank you again. with my best wishes Meilyne Chen Council of Agriculture Animal Administration Section Animal Industry Department |
